Mitchell's is a Mission District classic! They've been around for as long as I can remember, and they never disappoint. It's always busy, with a line out the door--even in the rain. Despite the crowds, they run things efficiently. For scoops, they use a ticketing system and call your number when it's your turn. They also offer online ordering for convenience. There's a separate line for those picking up half gallons, which my family loves to do. Our favorite flavor? The ube macapuno--definitely a must-try. While there's no seating inside the store, there are a few benches outside.

This place is an icon. I know I've been here when I was a little kid. To come back after all these years is such a treat. They're celebrating 71 years in business which is amazing. As we drove by, there was a line out the door. We were lucky enough to get a parking spot in the back. And I love the murals outside. You go in and grab a number. Then wait for your number to be called. That's when you place your order. There was 6 of us in a group and our staff member recited all of our orders back. Wow! That was cool! I got a scoop of Ube ice cream. Not sire what it is, but there's something different about their version of it. So good. They sell other items in the store as well such as snack items, some of their swag and tubs of their ice cream. This place was hoppin'. They had a constant flow of customers. I'll have to come back next time I'm in town.

This place is well worth the hype. It's always busy so grab a ticket on the left of the door as soon as you walk in. They'll call your number when it's your turn to order. I got the vanilla on the waffle cone. It was the perfect ice-cream cone. You taste the vanilla essence and it was so perfectly creamy as an ice-cream cone should be. Hella smooth ice-cream too. Easily my fave ice cream spot in SF.

My daughter was hankering for ice cream during our visit to San Francisco this past weekend, so I took them to my favorite ice cream shop growing up in San Francisco. There was a wait, but well worth it! You wait outside until they call your number over the speaker because it's pretty small inside. We didn't have to wait that long and my family enjoyed ice cream from my childhood. Check out Mitchell's Ice Cream if you're in SF for a rich, tasty ice cream experience.
